FREE workshop on Healthful Eating

Please join us at the Butler Library (basement) on Tuesday, May 31 from 1pm-3pm for a talk on healthful eating on a budget!
My name is Octavia Elder, and I am the mother of a three year old girl who makes me thankful to have the flexibility to work with her every day, rather than sending her to a daycare. I am also the manager of a farmer's co-operative, and have been for almost two years. This spring, I have been scheduling workshops and lectures about healthful eating on a budget, and about supporting the local economy through food. I would be happy to speak with any group of homeschooling parents about those topics, or even speak with the children about what my job is and why it's important to the community.

Summer is officially here as the longest day of the year ushered us into the warm season this week. Fireflies, late afternoon thunderstorms, sprinklers and swimming pools are all before us these coming months...get out there and enjoy the weather! Here are some fun (free!) activities that you can do with your family at Alameda Park this summer. Take the whole family to a free outdoor concert, or enjoy some outdoor discovery programs: The park also offers some other activities (not free, but not expensive!):
NOTE: Wednesday, August 4th is FREE admission to Alameda Pool for homeschoolers (and private schools). Mark your calendars! A great fall schedule is lined up at Providence Plantation. Go here for details!
